Fred Dixon
Fred Dixon is an oil painter concerned above all with the transformation and mystery inherent to the medium. Using minimally thin, fragile application of paint he creates tension with his generally aggressive subject matter, which he often obscures with misleading framing or formal emphasis. His most recent work is inspired by the aesthetics of hostile social infrastructure such as fencing, barbed wire and anti-climbing spikes, with a preoccupation on ‘edges’ in painting as a narrative and compositional tool.
