Grant Fryc

Fryc’s paintings come from low-res photos taken while moving through the day—parking the car, mailing a letter, waiting in line. He photographs things that catch his attention: a building at a certain time of day, a funny doorway, the way objects stack or lean against each other. He works quickly with a limited palette, mostly grays and browns with occasional bright spots. The paintings are small enough to finish in a sitting or two.

Grant Fryc is a painter based in New York working in oil, pastel, and gouache. He received his BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
