Jiří Bartoš
Since the beginning of his artistic career, Jiří Bartoš has devoted himself primarily to painting flowers and animals. Natural motifs became his native language—he grew up in a small village in Moravia, where fauna and flora were an inseparable part of everyday life. In his paintings, he often connected this experience with themes of ecology, the fragility of natural cycles, and the relationship between humans and the environment that shapes them. Through his art, he sought to express respect for what surrounded him in childhood for what took root within him. Over time, however, his work began to change. Moving to Prague, living in the city, and being somewhat removed from nature which had once been a natural backdrop for him led to a deeper inner process. He began to focus more on his own childhood, his memories, and the ways in which the past shapes individuals and influences their relationship to the present. In the city, he missed not only the physical contact with nature but also the subtle rhythm of life that had once been intimately connected to the landscape
