Lukas Leisinger
Lukas explores the relationship between memory, media, and authenticity. Through the motif of the isolated frame, his oil paintings examine nostalgia, and how it obscures and comforts, distorting meaning. Blurring the line between the authentic and altered, his work captures the exact moment a recollection changes into something alien.
This tension is deeply rooted in the solitary state of growing up in a digital age. Outsourcing memory to video, Lukas’s paintings inhabit an uneasy space where comfort and paranoia become inseparable. Informed by archives and recollections, Lukas’s world deconstructs certainty. By stripping single frames of everyday life from their context, he pushes the image to a point where it can no longer maintain its coherence.
