Marceline Mason
Marceline Mason’s paintings explore the psychological terrain of nocturnal landscapes, where natural forms become mirrors for inner states of mind. In her recent work, the human presence has largely receded, giving way to quiet, uncanny scenes of rivers and night waters. These paintings emerge from lived moments of observation, reflections on solitude, memory, and the shifting thresholds between the real and the dreamlike. Mason views the environment as an extension of the mind, where atmosphere and emotion converge. The subtle glow on water, the silhouette of a bird, or the slow diffusion of light across a surface become points of meditation. Each revealing an underlying tension between presence and disappearance. Through deliberate stillness and layered tone, her paintings invite a sustained gaze, offering spaces of reverence and introspection in response to the changing natural world.
