Timothy Wiebe

Timothy Wiebe often takes inspiration from his lived experiences. He is drawn to small, fleeting moments in time that most people might overlook. His work stems from a deep appreciation of his surroundings and the significance of the everyday. The main goal of his work is to capture a feeling and to translate and share that feeling with the viewer, such as feelings of longing, nostalgia, quiet contemplation, and reflection. Painting is his preferred medium, both water- and oil-based. He often creates small works on cardboard packaging as a cost-saving measure and as a way to give new life and meaning to materials that would otherwise be discarded.

Timothy Wiebe was born in 2000 in St. Thomas, Ontario. He grew up in the northern Mexican state of Chihuahua and in southwestern Ontario, often traveling between the two locations. His exposure to different cultures and landscapes gave him a heightened appreciation for the world around him, both natural and human-made. He became interested in art at a young age and began teaching himself to draw and paint while in elementary school. He currently lives and works in Tillsonburg, Ontario. He attended Western University in London, Ontario, where he received his HBA with distinction in Art History and Studio Art in 2023. He has exhibited his work numerous times in London, Ontario, in both solo and group shows at Forest City Gallery, Satellite Project Space, and Western’s ArtLab and Cohen Commons.
